Anca is one of the most vital human companion characters in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Living near Laslea as a village herbalist, healer, and practicing witch, she has known Coen long before his transformation into a Dawnwalker.
Unlike companions who only meet Coen after his vampire curse awakens, Anca anchors Coen to his human identity. Having taught him to read in his youth, she remains one of the few confidantes who understands his dual nature and supports his fight to save his family.

Story & Background
Anca's connection with Coen forms one of the emotional foundations of The Blood of Dawnwalker. Before the central conflict erupted, Anca knew Coen as an ordinary human villager in Laslea. She introduced him to reading and shared knowledge beyond the routine demands of rural life, establishing a relationship rooted in trust, shared memories, and genuine affection.
When Coen returns to Laslea after becoming a Dawnwalker, Anca quickly realizes that he is no longer entirely human. Rather than rejecting him out of fear, she offers continuous support, helping him care for his sick mother Esme while challenging him to retain his human values despite his growing vampire powers.
